Getting it off the ground.

Getting a big idea off the ground is not easy. I have great business and marketing experience but not being a developer limits the “bootstrapping”. So I’ve hired a talented developer to fill this gap.

We also have 2 other talented developers as well as a project manager/marketing guy on the team. We project the prototype will be complete by January 2009. We have plans to market and launch.

We are currently self funded and can get the idea launched on our own steam but as this is a BIG idea against many large competitors, having money to spend would increase our chances. So we’ll see.

I’ve gotten the recommended business plan, marketing plan, presentation and executive summary organized. That in itself took up a long time and as I went along, it changed several times as different ideas were flushed out. Writing the business plan was definitely a useful exercise. Whether you plan to raise money or not, it helps you lay out the reasoning behind your “big idea”. It gives you a reality check, does this plan really make sense? What can I do to make it better? How can I resolve problems?

Check the Web Site Progress Category to see how we are coming along, I’ll keep anyone interested up to date as to where we are, albeit in a secret stealth type mode :-)

So development of the prototype begins! (Oct 1, 2008)
